Three of the most epic classic rock bands are still going strong in 2022. Metallica, The Rolling Stones, and Aerosmith are all on the road once again. Each band is either currently on tour or has upcoming shows you won't want to miss. Keep reading to find out about each band’s first, longest, and current tours.
Metallica
The infamous heavy metal legend began their very first tour in 1983. From July 27 until September 3, James Hatfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Cliff Burton rocked the house at 31 shows. The “Kill ‘Em All for One” Tour was a great start for the band and paved the way for their success.
During their “World Magnetic Tour,” Metallica played 187 shows in venues all over the world. Beginning on September 12, 2008, the band traveled throughout the US, into Canada, down to Mexico, then Latin America. After rocking the socks off of North America, Metallica thundered across the pond, delivering a hearty helping of heavy metal to many European countries before venturing to Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. After more than 20 months, Metallica closed its longest tour on November 21, 2010.
Currently, Metallica is touring Europe, and North and South America. The 2021-2022 tour began on September 16, 2021, and the final performance for this tour is scheduled for August 14, 2022. Bands featured as supporting acts include the incredible talents of Cage the Elephant, Five Finger Death Punch, Greta Van Fleet, Weezer, and many more.

Aerosmith
Starting their career more than a decade before Metallica, Aerosmith began their self-titled first tour on October 10, 1972. The tour ran through all of 1973, ending December 15. The “Aerosmith” tour took the band all over the US, and into Canada and Mexico, playing a total of 66 shows.
On June 2, 1993, nearly 20 years after their first tour, Aerosmith began the longest tour of its career so far. The “Get a Grip” tour, features the music of great bands such as Megadeath, 4 Non-Blondes, Collective Souls, and others as the opening acts for Aerosmith. Before the tour ended on December 19, 1994, Aerosmith played in venues throughout Europe, the Americas, and Japan.
On September 4, 2022, the band will be on tour again. Fans can gain access to VIP packages as an add-on to any ticket (https://www.aerosmith.com/tour) they purchase. This applies to every concert on the tour, which doesn’t end until December 11 this year.

The Rolling Stones
Preceding Aerosmith’s maiden tour by nearly another decade, the Stones began their first tour on June 5, 1964, playing only 11 shows before the short US tour ended on July 20.
The Rolling Stones played 147 shows during their “Bigger Bang” worldwide tour. Supporting acts for the Stones included but were not limited to Lifehouse, Pearl Jam, Nickelback, country duo Brooks & Dunn, and even Metallica. Being the band’s longest tour, the Stones began the “Bigger Bang” on August 21, 2005, and didn’t wrap it up for two full years, ending on August 26, 2007.
Today, the UK is enjoying the Rolling Stones as they tour the region. The “Sixty” tour began on June 1, 2022. They still have a few shows left to play since the tour doesn’t end until August 3. Unfortunately, however, most of the remaining shows have already sold out.
