Ahmad McCown - What's Best for Me Artwork

The theme of "What's Best For Me" can be literally implied from the title as Ahmad takes you on a lyrical excursion through a cluster of emotions that touch on such matters as stress, doubt, indecisiveness and more, but finally coming to the realization that he should follow his instincts...trust his judgment and personal inclinations without being influenced by external factors or what people think.

This ain't where I wanna be

It's my cue to be set free

Never did I think I'd ever feel this way

What are my alternatives

Should I leave or should I stay

I sure don't want to let someone down

Agony and trepidation should never be allowed

The instrumentation is minimalist, driven by a mellifluous lead electric piano and an assortment of melodic keyboard phrases which present an imaginative, reflective type of soundscape. It works extremely well with Ahmad's expressive and pensive vocal performance. The soulful way he emotes the lyrics projects an appealing authenticity that gravitate you to each word.

I'm undecided and I don't like it

It's time to go with my judgment

No longer can I fight it

I'm tired of being torn and weak-kneed

Dissatisfaction and distress is what I sure don't need
