Blacklist Union Mystifies with Gripping, Introspective Music Video for

Blacklist Union, a hard rock/punk band from Los Angeles is currently gearing up for their 5th studio album "Letters from the Psych Ward" coming the Summer of 2022, however today we want to spotlight a gripping music video and release "Evil Eye" from their seminal fourth album "Back to Momo".

"Evil Eye" is an extremely introspective song which touches on the trauma frontman Tony West experienced through childhood and growing up at the hands of his mother.

This song is about the abuse I suffered from my mother as a kid and throughout my life and how I let it destroy me for many years. I just had to let it go and realize she is a sick woman who didn’t and still doesn’t know any better.

- Tony West

"Evil Eye" is a song rife with heartfelt lyrics of those exact sentiments, deep soul searching and inward reflection. Let it not be lost though that musically, the track is a cutting edge, hard-driving composition with an equally invigorating vocal performance on Tony's part.

The imagery in the video is stark, yet absolutely enthralling as you witness sporadic clips of Tony writhing in agony in a straight jacket interchanged with his electric performance of the song throughout the video. Also, the video masterfully portrays scenes of the combative, toxic interaction between Tony as a child and his mother.

The video was extremely emotional for me. The part when my son acted as me when I was nine suffering abuse was so real and so life-like I actually cried a few times. Matt Zane really brought it to life and I absolutely love the guy and love working with him.

- Tony West

Tony conveys the emotions of his childhood vividly through his vocal performance on the song and its portrayal on the screen. He collaborated with noted music director and Society 1 frontman, Matt Zane on this project and the two creatives worked together to successfully bring out Tony's vision. The visuals are chilling and thought provoking as Tony bellows on the chorus:

Evil eye, why do you villainize me?!?

Evil eye crucifies me till I bleed!

- Excerpt from the chorus of "Evil Eye"
