Apricity is a Canadian pop/alternative rock recording artist who possesses a clear cut penchant for creating songs that have a spirited and high-powered vitality.
The immensely talented creative, who was originally born in Scotland before immigrating to Canada as a child, has drawn her creative inspiration from such accomplished female vocalists as Garbage’s Shirley Mason, Alanis Morrissette, and Blondie’s Debbie Harry.
Today we're going to touch on Apricity's recent release titled "The Fear" which is a captivating array of commanding, magnetic vocals backed by a melodic instrumentation that has a gritty edged appeal to it.
"The Fear" is a dynamic follow up to Apricity's debut single "All My Lies" which has garnered significant support across the major streaming platforms amassing over 200,00 streams to date. "The Fear" will be a bona fide factor in continuing the surge of momentum generated by her first project.
Apricity not only released her sophomore effort with "The Fear" but the single is also accompanied by an equally compelling music video (link below) which is ingenious in its concept, underlying symbolism and storyline.
Imagine a scenario where the Walking Dead television series meets the classic Mad Max films of the 80's. The visuals to "The Fear" represent that unique combination to a tee as it presents a bevy of dramatic imagery from a post-apoclyptic world dominated by zombies, creatures and other enigmatic characters in a wilderness setting.
The music video is a perfect complement to the song as they both project a larger-than-life presence in their respective audio/visual formats.
Let's dive more into the song as Apricity delivers a magnificent and resounding vocal performance that is a driving force in the reason we strongly believe that music listeners will gravitate to this track.
Apricity does a tremendous job of capturing the lyrical shifts with her vocal delivery. She attacks the lead verses with a calm assuredness, then transitions to a zestful rendition on the anthemic-type hook.
How does it feel?
To brave the unknown
To walk with no shadow
Could I make it alone?
Tell me I'll wake up
You'll still be here
To save me from myself
When....I''m lost in fear
Chorus from "The Fear" - Apricity
Kudos go out to Apricity and platinum awarded, Juno-nominated producer Thomas McKay for setting forth the dynamic vision of this track.

More About Apricity
- The moniker "Apricity" comes from the Latin word meaning “basking in the warmth of the sun".
- Apricity was bitten by the entertainment bug early in her formative years as she was a pageant show participant, auditioned for Britain’s iconic TV show Top of the Pops, and also appeared on kids’ programs like Fun Factory before eventually settling into the world of musical theatre.
- “It was being involved in different facets of entertainment that put me on the path to who I am today,” Apricity says. “Seeing people willing to invest their time and energy into me was inspirational. And now, I’m investing in myself. It’s been a tremendous amount of work but I’ve loved every minute of it.”
- Apricity also teamed up with acclaimed producer Thomas McKay on her debut single "All My Lies". Apricity was initially drawn to the Evanescence-inspired dark tones that permeate the track’s lyrics and music and says McKay was the perfect foil for helping ensure the song was a stylistic good fit.
- The music video for “All My Lies” was filmed at Milton’s Country Heritage Park, a location that recreates rural life in 19th century Ontario. Scenes for the video were filmed at The Lucas Family Homestead, a reportedly haunted building constructed in the 1830s, while other scenes were shot at The Mayne Corners United Church, which was built in the 1870s.
